Through her publicist, the former 'Hart of Dixie' actress responds to her estranged husband's requests for emergency order in which he accused her of infidelity and substance abuse.

AceShowbiz - Jaime King has fired back at estranged husband Kyle Newman's attempts to get sole physical custody of their children. On the same day Newman filed an emergency order in which he accused her of cheating and labeled her a "chronic drug addict and alcoholic", the Lemon Breeland of "Hart of Dixie" called his move a vicious attempt to manipulate the court system.

In a statement to the press on Friday, May 22, Jaime's publicist said, "This is another vicious, failed attempt of Kyle to continue his abuse of Jaime and manipulate the court system." The representative continued, "Today Kyle was denied all requests for emergency orders and the judge granted Jaime shared legal custody of their two children."

Jaime herself has accused Kyle of verbal and emotional abuse in the divorce petition she filed on May 18. In the court documents, she claimed that her estranged husband called her "a terrible person and a terrible mother." She also alleged that he "chased me in his car" and "staged a fake intervention to force me into confinement."

Adding that Kyle has isolated her from "friends, professional contacts, and employers by telling them lies," the 41-year old actress stated, "I have suffered the most confusing trauma-filled experiences involving emotional manipulation and gaslighting caused by Respondent. I am afraid of, and feel anxious and sick to my stomach at every encounter with Respondent." She additionally claimed that he is withholding their two young sons.

When filing for divorce, Jaime requested a restraining order against Kyle. A temporary restraining order has since been granted to her, and Kyle is now ordered to keep at least 100 yards away from her. On Friday, her publicist assured that the order is still in effect as noting, "The temporary domestic violence restraining order remains in place to protect Jaime."

In response, Kyle made a request for emergency hearing on Friday. In the documents he filed, the 44-year-old alleged that he and her friends staged an intervention earlier this year with him threatening to take their children if she refused to get treatment for her drugs and alcohol addiction. While she did go to rehab in Utah, she was said to leave shortly after arriving. He also noted that she confessed to having an affair.

Jamie and Kyle got married in November 2007 after two years of dating. They have two children together, 6-year-old James Knight and 4-year-old Leo Thames. The boys are currently self-isolating with Kyle in Pennsylvania.
