AceShowbiz - Placido Domingo has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The opera star, who is currently battling a series of sexual misconduct allegations that have forced him to withdraw from a string of performances, has released a statement revealing he and his family have been quarantined.

"Currently we are all in good health but I experienced fever and cough symptoms therefore deciding to get tested and the result came back positive," the Spanish tenor writes.

"I beg everyone to be extremely careful, follow the basic guidelines by washing your hands frequently, keeping at least a 6 feet distance from others, doing everything you can to stop the virus from spreading and please above all stay home if you can! Together we can fight this virus and stop the current worldwide crisis, so we can hopefully return to our normal daily lives very soon."

The news comes days after Domingo resigned from the American Guild of Musical Artists and donated $500,000 (£420,000) to sexual harassment eradication programmes and a fund that aids opera employees in crisis.

Bon Jovi star David Bryan has also tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The keyboard player has assured fans he's feeling better after falling ill earlier this month (Mar20).

"I just got my results back today and tested positive for corona virus," the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee wrote. "I've been sick for a week and feeling better each day. Please don't be afraid!!! It's the flu not the plague."

"I've have been quarantined for a week and will for another week. And when I feel better I'll get tested again to make sure I'm free of this nasty virus. Please help out each other. This will be over soon... with the help of every American!"

Bryan was preparing for the Broadway launch of his new musical, Diana - about the late Princess Diana - when he fell ill. The production was scheduled to open in late-March before the coronavirus pandemic shut down Broadway.

Meanwhile, his bandmate, Jon Bon Jovi, attempted to raise spirits from self-isolation on Saturday (21Mar20) by taking part in a citywide singalong of his hit Livin' on a Prayer in Chicago, Illinois.

"Hey Chicago, I heard that you guys were about to open up your windows and scream and shout to Livin' on a Prayer," he said in an Instagram video. "I want you to know that I'm just warming up, getting ready to sing along with you."

"In these trying times, I am with you with all of my heart and my soul, sending my love to everybody in Chicago and across America. Sing it out, baby. We're all gonna come through this together. Be strong. I love you."
