AceShowbiz - Late Aretha Franklin's life and legacy were celebrated on TV special "Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul", which aired on Sunday, March 10 on CBS. Among the performers at the star-studded concert, which was hosted by Tyler Perry and taped on January 13, were Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and John Legend.
The celebration kicked off by "American Idol" alum Hudson, who sang two of Franklin's most iconic songs "Respect", "Think" and "Ain't No Way". Dressed in a stunning white gown, Hudson showcased her musical ability with flawless ease and pitch perfect note. Another "American Idol" alum, Kelly Clarkson, later hit the stage to sing "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)".
Keys teamed up with SZA for a stunning medley of the late singer's hits such as "Spirit in the Dark", "Day Dreaming" and "You're All I Need to Get By". On the other hand, Dion delivered a jaw-dropping performance of "A Change Is Gonna Come" in a black-and-yellow dress that featured a cinched belt.
Later, Legend gave a captivating performance of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" as he played the piano. "Tonight I am honored to salute the queen by singing a song on which she demonstrated her genius as an interpretive singer, musician and arranger," he said ahead of his rendition.
The "All of Me" hitmaker continued, "Now, Paul Simon has said this is one of the best covers ever of one of his song, so we're gonna cover her version tonight. Thank you, Aretha for your example of what it means to be a true singer, a true artist, who offered us all a bridge over troubled waters."
Other notable performances at the tribute concert included Alessia Cara with "Until You Come Back to Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)", Brandi Carlile with "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man" and Janelle Monae with "Rock Steady".
The tribute concert wrapped up with a performance by Cara, Fantasia, Carlile and Andra Day who joined forces to belt out Franklin's iconic female anthem "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman".
