The network reveals that the upcoming 6-part reboot will center on the stars, who reunite for the first time in two decades in order attempt to get a '90210' reboot going.

AceShowbiz - It's official! FOX has officially announced the reboot of "Beverly Hills, 90210" with a slew of original stars reprising their roles.

The network, which served as the house for the iconic 1990s hit for an entire decade, shared the big news on Wednesday, February 27. Among the returning stars on the new series, titled "90210 (2019)", are Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering. They are set to play "heightened versions of themselves in a brand-new serialized drama -- with a healthy dose of irreverence -- that is inspired by their real lives and relationships."

FOX reveals that the upcoming 6-part reboot will center on the stars, who reunite for the first time in two decades in order attempt to get a "90210" reboot going. "What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast -- whom the whole world watched grow up together -- attempts to continue from where they left off?" says the network.

The new series, however, won't feature Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry. Meanwhile, Chris Alberghini and Mike Chesller, who produced the original show's 2012 reboot "90210", have been tapped to write and executive produce the new revival.

The announcement arrives after Spelling let it slip about the confimation earlier this month. During her appearance on "Access Live" on February 1, "The Masked Singer" alum said, "It's confirmed. We're doing a new '90210'."

The "Stori Telling" author was visibly surprised by the hosts' reaction after she confirmed the news. "Did I just confirm something that wasn't known?" she asked while covering her mouth.

Not stopping there, Tori was generous enough to share some details of the project, adding that the reboot would feature some original cast members returning. "It is the OG crew back together, and we're playing heightened version of ourselves," she explained. "The fans will be pleasantly surprised, though, because we will intercut that with scenes from the show. So it'll be a whole ensemble cast."

Created by Darren Star and produced by Aaron Spelling, the original "Beverly Hills, 90210" ran for 10 seasons from 1990 to 2000 on FOX. Meanwhile, The CW's revival "90210" aired from 2008 to 2013. Tori, Jenny and Shannen reprised their roles from the original series in the first season.

There is no exact premiere date but the new reboot will arrive this summer on FOX.
