The latest sneak peek also reveals the origin of Uglyville and hints at Moxy and her friends' struggles to find their place in the town of Perfection.

AceShowbiz - A new trailer for "UglyDolls" has been released for viewing pleasure. Unlike the previously released trailer which appeared to put the highlight on a song performed by Kelly Clarkson, the newest one sheds light on the storyline.

It opens by revealing the origin of Uglyville. "Every year millions of dolls are created, perfectly designed to bring joy to people everywhere," a narrator says. "But what happens to the dolls who aren't so perfect?" An imperfect doll is then disposed from the factory and lands in Uglyville.

The video mostly follows Moxy, a character voiced by Clarkson, who dreams of escaping the town and moving to the "big world" where she can belong to the perfect kid. She eventually takes her friends to the big world, where they find that they're not accepted in the town of Perfection.

"Welcome to the Institute of Perfection, where only the best will meet their perfect human match," says Lou (Nick Jonas), a leader from Perfection who trains recruits for perfection, on a stage as girls are swooning over him.

Lou immediately rejects Moxy and her friends without giving them a chance. "Do you honestly think your band of sock puppets stands a chance here?" Lou asks her. "It's probably better if you just go back where you belong."

But Moxy is not going to give up that easily. She encourages her friends to embraces their flaws that make them unique. "Our flaws make us unique," she says. "Those are all worth fighting for."

According to the official synopsis, "in the adorably different town of Uglyville, weird is celebrated, strange is special and beauty is embraced as more than simply meets the eye. Here, the free-spirited Moxy and her UglyDolls friends live every day in a whirlwind of bliss, letting their freak flags fly in a celebration of life and its endless possibilities, occasionally looking to the sky, where a new UglyDoll will appear and be embraced by the community."

"Moxy loves her square-peg life in this round-hole town, but her curiosity about all things leads her to wonder if there's something - anything - on the other side of the mountain which nestles Uglyville. Moxy gathers a group of her closest friends and sets off to find what's on the other side. They discover another world - Perfection - a town where more conventional dolls are trained in protocols before they graduate and are sent to the 'real' world to find the love of a child."

"In Perfection, Moxy and her crew are subject to the manipulations of Lou, the perfect doll in charge of training recruits. Here, the UglyDolls will confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most."

The voice cast boasts singing stars like Janelle Monae, Pitbull, Blake Shelton, Bebe Rexha, Charli XCX, Lizzo and Wang Leehom. Directed by Kelly Asbury, it is written by Alison Peck and Robert Rodriguez, the latter of which also serves as producer along with Jane Hartwell and Oren Aviv. The animated musical film is due out May 3 in the United States.
