Aside from expressing gratitude to those who wish her well and looked after her, the 'Underworld' star also set the record straight on why she uploaded photos from her hospital bed.

AceShowbiz - Kate Beckinsale has been hospitalised after an ovarian cyst exploded.

The 45-year-old British actress revealed she was in tears as she was given morphine to alleviate the pain after her terrifying ordeal.

"Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry," she captioned a snap of her crying in a hospital bed on Instagram. "So thankful to everyone who looked after me #wobbly".

Kate is seen in the picture with an oxygen tube up her nose, and another snap showed her curled up on the bed in pain.

Despite her ordeal, the "Underworld" star took the time to blast a follower who criticised her for taking a selfie while in hospital.

"It's actually not a selfie. My mum took it," Kate replied. "In fact I would not have posted it if we had not noticed someone in a car taking a photo of me leaving the hospital in a wheelchair".

She also revealed that while she wouldn't usually document such a personal moment, she was forced to for fear of false reports being spread.

"I'd prefer to say what happened then endure speculation and so I chose to share," she fired.

Several of her celebrity friends commented on her post with well wishes, including "Now You See Me" star, Isla Fisher.

"Are you okay? Sending you so much love," the Australian actress wrote.

Sarah Silverman, who dated Kate's ex-boyfriend Michael Sheen, also checked up on the actress, along with Rose McGowan, Sara Foster and Eiza Gonzalez. "I know the feeling. I'm so sorry. I wish you a quick recovery. Sending you love," the "Baby Driver" star empathised.

Kate later thanked everyone for their supportive comments, and assured her friends, fans and followers that she is at home with her mother, and hopefully on the mend.

"Thank you so much to everyone who has wished me well and lots of love to all the girls here who have been through similar, or worse. Lots of love to all," she wrote.
