'Jersey Shore' star Mike Sorrentino, who pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018, has previously stated that he is happy to put his legal troubles behind.

AceShowbiz - Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino will begin his eight-month prison sentence in January 2019.

The "Jersey Shore" star was dealt the sentence earlier this month after being found guilty of tax evasion. And now documents filed on Monday and obtained by TMZ.com show that the reality star must surrender to the Bureau of Prisons beginning January 15.

Sorrentino was initially indicted in 2014 for allegedly filing fraudulent paperwork to hide his debts and almost $9 million (£6.9 million) in earnings from officials at America's Internal Revenue Service over a three-year period.

And in January, he ended up pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion.

The MTV star was also handed two years of supervised release following the stint behind bars, 500 hours of community service, and a $10,000 (£7,600) fine, due within 30 days.

Hours after appearing at the federal courthouse in Newark, New Jersey, where he was given the sentence, Sorrentino posted a photo of him and his "Jersey Shore" co-stars, including Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, Vinny Guadagnino, Pauly 'DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio and Jenni 'JWoww' Farley and wrote: "We are very happy to put this behind us. Thank you So much for all the Love & Support."

Prior to beginning his prison sentence, Sorrentino will marry fiancee Lauren Pesce. The pair are due to wed on November 1.
