"It's been a crazy ride and I gotta say, it's so cool to sit up here tonight with this new generation."

The "American Idol" alum made history as she won Female Video of the Year for her single "The Champion" featuring Ludacris. The achievement made her extend her run as the most decorated artist in the history of the event.

This year's ceremony did not only honor the biggest country musicians. Backstreet Boys nabbed CMT Performance of the Year for their song "Everybody" featuring Florida Georgia Line. Little Big Town, who hosted the ceremony, also won an award that night. The group took home Group Video of the Year for their song "When Someone Stops Loving You".

Other winners at this year's event included Carly Pearce and Kane Brown. While the former won Breakthrough Video of the Year for "Every Little Thing", the latter notched Collaborative Video of the Year for "What Ifs" featuring Lauren Alaina.
