AceShowbiz - Kevin Federline's lawyer is planning to depose the former dancer's ex-wife Britney Spears as part of their new child support battle.
Federline recently filed documents hoping to double his $20,000-a-month (£15,000) child support payments, because his income has decreased, while the Toxic hitmaker's fortune has increased significantly thanks to her recently wrapped Las Vegas residency, which reportedly earned her $475,000 (£357,500) per show.
According to Us Weekly magazine, Federline's lawyer is planning to depose the pop superstar in a bid to gather more information about her financial status.
"The reasonable needs of the children need to be met," Mark Vincent Kaplan tells the publication.
In his new legal filings, Federline claims he makes less than one per cent of Britney's income and currently receives $20,000-a-month from the star to look after their two sons.
Federline also draws on the disparities between himself and the pop star, citing that she is "one of the most recognised musical performers of our time", while he "cannot afford" to take his children on holiday or buy them gifts.
Federline first raised the idea of an increase in child support in February, when he sent a letter via his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, in which he asked for the subject to be revisited. In March, TMZ reported that Spears' father Jamie, who was put in charge of the singer's finances after her highly-publicised breakdown in 2007, had "rejected" Federline's request for an increase in pay.
Britney has yet to comment on her ex-husband's increase and deposition request.
