The comedian reveals in an interview that he often watch the moment 'where I got hit, where my friend died.'

AceShowbiz - Comedian Tracy Morgan coped with the aftermath of the accident that killed his friend and left him hospitalised by watching video footage of the crash on YouTube.

The 30 Rock star has admitted he chose an unusual way to cope with the 2014 crash that killed his friend James McNair, and left him with multiple broken bones and a "traumatic brain injury" when a Walmart truck collided with a limousine, in which he was a passenger.

"I would watch the accident on YouTube," the 49-year-old comedian told the audience at New York Magazine's Vulture Festival on Saturday, May 19, reports the New York Daily News. "It helped my healing process. I would watch where I got hit, where my friend died."

"That was part of my healing, watching it," he added.

In 2016, Walmart driver Kevin Roper, who said he had been awake for more than 28 hours, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to a three-year pre-trial intervention program followed by 300 hours of community service.

Tracy took a year away from work to recuperate and had to learn how to walk again as part of his recovery.

He made his comedy return on hit U.S. series Saturday Night Live in October 2015, before starting work on Fist Fight, his first film appearance since the accident.

"I had to come back to y'all. I fought hard. I fought. All of us did. I went through hell. You're going through hell right now? Go through hell," he said. "Just don't come back with empty hands. I came back with a lot of love and forgiveness. The hardest part about my f**king accident was forgiving that f**king driver."
