"Thank you @pitbull for lending your private plane to move cancer patients from PR to USA so that they can get chemo," Puerto Rico congresswoman Jenniffer Gonzalez revealed on Twitter. The musician responded in a brief statement, "Thank God we're blessed to help. Just doing my part."

According to reports, Puerto Rico was completely without power after the hurricane. More than a dozen people died, buildings were destroyed, and there was widespread looting. Dominica government spokesman Charles Jong said they have "gone into survival mode."

Jennifer Lopez recently said that she lost contact with her family after the hurricane mercilessly ravaged the Caribbean. "Me and my cousin still haven't been able to hear from our families over there," so the singer opened up in an Instagram video message.

She donated $1 million from the proceeds of her Las Vegas residency show. She also teamed up with ex-husband Marc Anthony to spearhead additional relief efforts. Shawn Mendes who was in Mexico when the earthquake happened and saw "the impact of the damage firsthand" made a $100,00 donation to Red Cross. "The whole building was shaking pretty severely, but we were fortunate to be somewhere that was structurally sound enough to withstand it," he remembered.

Salma Hayek also donated $100,000. Other latin stars rallying to raise funds to help the community included Ricky Martin and Daddy Yankee.
