Thanos to Re-Balance the Universe in 'Avengers: Infinity War'

Co-screenwriter Stephen McFeely suggests that Thanos wants all the Infinity Stones to 're-balance the universe as he sees it.'

AceShowbiz - Thanos, who is portrayed by Josh Brolin, has been featured several times in several Marvel movies as a big bad who desperately wants to collect Infinity Stones. However, fans still have no clue about what Thanos actually wants to do with the gems. His intention remains vague, even though he has been hinted as the supervillain who will bring trouble for the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War".

Thankfully, co-screenwriter Stephen McFeely has given a clue related to Thanos' plan in the movie. In one of special features included in "Doctor Strange" Blu-ray, McFeely says, "His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it. So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal."

What McFeely really means by "re-balance the universe" is still vague, but it may allude to the event in the comic book, in which Thanos gets all the Infinity Stones and possesses godlike powers afterward. With the massive power, comic book Thanos wipes out most of the population in universe, particularly to provide massive souls to a literal embodiment of Death, whom Thanos falls in love with.

So far, the Infinity Stones which have been introduced in Marvel movies are the gem in Loki's scepter (featured in "The Avengers"), the Aether in "Thor: The Dark World", the orb in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and Agamotto's eye in "Doctor Strange". Thanos has obtained zero of them, though.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018. In the first set footage, Marvel head Kevin Feige has confirmed that the Avengers will team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man in the movie. It has been said that the Avengers will be completely unprepared to face Thanos after the events in "Captain America: Civil War".

"Avengers: Infinity War" cast members include Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista. "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage is also starring and is speculated to play MODOK, while Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange.
