'Avengers: Infinity War' May Center on Thanos Instead of the Heroes

Reacting to the assumption that Marvel has villain problems, Marvel Studios' boss Kevin Feige suggested that villain Thanos would have a better role in the upcoming 'Infinity War'.

AceShowbiz - Marvel has often been criticized for having villain problems, which mean most of their villains (save for Loki and Zemo) are hardly memorable due to their shallow characters. One of them is Thanos (portrayed by Josh Brolin), who hasn't left many grand impressions despite his appearance in several MCU movies.

Thus, fans worry Marvel won't make the so-called dangerous Thanos a better villain in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War". Marvel Studios' boss Kevin Feige, however, suggested that Marvel would make a change. During an interview with several journalists on "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" filming set, Feige said that Thanos could be seen as "Infinity War" main character.

"Thanos in 'Infinity War' is-in a movie that has a lot of characters, you could almost go so far as to say he is the main character," said Feige. "And that's a bit of a departure from what we've done before, but that was appropriate for a movie called 'Infinity War'."

Judging from Feige's statement, we can speculate that "Infinity War" may center on Thanos' mission instead of the Avengers' and the Guardians of the Galaxy's. The arc may focus on Thanos' attempt to collect Infinity Stones with bulgy superheroes trying to block his mission. Either way, it's still a long way to go until Marvel reveals "Infinity War" plot details and Thanos' exact role.

"Avengers: Infinity War" will bring back Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. They will be joined by "Guardians of the Galaxy" stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista. "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage is also starring and is speculated to play MODOK, while Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange.

"Infinity War" and its untitled sequel are planned to be filmed back-to-back, with Atlanta and Scotland as their settings. The superhero movie is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018.
