Judd Apatow Says 'Ghostbusters' Haters Are Supporters of Donald Trump

According to the 'Trainwreck' director, people who doubt Paul Feig's 'Ghostbusters' reboot will be great are the same people who support Trump's presidential candidacy.

AceShowbiz - Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters (2016)" has drawn a lot of criticisms since it was announced in 2014. The trailer, which debuted in March, has become the most "disliked" trailer in YouTube history. But Judd Apatow believes "Ghostbusters" haters happen to be Donald Trump's supporters.

"I would assume there's a very large crossover of people who are doubtful 'Ghostbusters' will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy," the "Trainwreck" director told Uproxx, "I would assume they are the exact same people. That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on Earth, so I couldn't be more excited."

"I think people have paid too much attention to just some angry trolls. And it will be judged on its own greatness. I don't think anything really matters the way you think it does," he added, "The movie comes out, and it will be great, and people will just be happy to have it. It's not like anybody really cares about a couple of idiots who hold onto the idea that things never evolve. I always think, you know, we have our past and if you can come up with a new, cool way to do something, then that's exciting and hopefully it will make a lot of people happy."

Melissa McCarthy previously admitted that she found it "very confusing" that the "Ghostbusters" trailer opened with "30 years ago" to refer to the original film, while her new movie is a reboot. "It's a reboot. I know, it's weird that they said the '30 years ago' because in this movie, the first one didn't happen," she said when visiting "The Johnjay & Rich Show", "It's that great story, but told totally differently."

"Believe me, the question was asked. I was like, 'I think that's very confusing,' " she said, before jokingly adding, "but then everyone said, 'We don't care what you think.' "

"Ghostbusters", also starring Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth and featuring cameos from original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, is coming to U.S. theaters on July 15.
