AceShowbiz - Paul Feig has spoken out after his "Ghostbusters (2016)" film is not included in a new box set celebrating the franchise. Sony Pictures will be releasing an 8-disc "Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection" box set which doesn't come with the all-female reboot and it doesn't sit well with the filmmaker.

Calling out the studio for the shady move, the director of the third film in the "Ghostbusters" franchise tweeted on Wednesday, December 22, "Um … @SonyPictures, I know this must be a mistake."

Noting that original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson appear in the 2016 movie, he argued, "We do have a lot of fans and Bill, Dan and Ernie were in it and it won the Kids Choice Award for Best Feature Film the year it came out. So, I guess this was just an oversight?" He added the hashtag "#weareallghostbusters."

Sony has not responded to Feig's criticism of the exclusion of his movie from the box sex. The gift set, in the meantime, includes 1984's "Ghostbusters" and 1989's "Ghostbusters II" as well as the latest installment, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife", which was released earlier this year, in November.

The 2016 movie, which stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the titular Ghostbusters, with Chris Hemsworth as their secretary, was considered a huge box office bomb after earning $229 million worldwide against its $144 million budget. Because of its combined production, marketing and other costs, it lost of over $70 million.

Due to its commercial failure, the studio abandoned plans for a sequel, opting instead to follow it up with Jason Reitman's "Ghostbusters: Afterlife". The movie, starring Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim and Celeste O'Connor, is set as a direct sequel to the first two movies and has grossed $174 million worldwide, which is an impressive number amid the pandemic.
