The end of her 13-year marriage to Gavin Rossdale marks the beginning of Gwen Stefani's new music era. While dealing with heartbreak, the No Doubt frontwoman last year turned to music and started working on "This Is What the Truth Feels Like", her first solo album in a decade that's due out on March 18.

In a new interview with NPR, Gwen said that she was "down... all the way down" following the split, which reportedly was caused by her ex's infidelity. "And I just felt like, 'God, I gotta turn this around. I can't go down like this.' I have to know that this is happening for a reason. And I knew that I had to turn to music," she shared.

She recalled crying while driving to the studio to write the first song. "I wrote a song and it felt so right. It was the only thing that felt good at all. That's what this whole record documents - working through it, having faith, believing in myself and wanting to do something about it," she continued. "And this is the first record I've ever made in real time: 'Used to Love You' came out three weeks after I wrote it."

However, Gwen won't only talk about her divorce on the forthcoming album. Just months after news about her split broke, she began dating fellow "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton, who announced his break-up with Miranda Lambert also in 2015.

Right before the 2016 Grammys in February, Gwen released the cute "Make Me Like You" that was clearly written with her new beau in mind. She once again sings about the country superstar on the recently-dropped "Misery".
