Bryan Singer celebrated his 50th birthday on Thursday, September 17 by announcing his next project after "X-Men: Apocalypse". Bryan shared on Instagram a picture of a script written by him titled "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", adapted from Jules Verne's novel of the same name.

According to the script, which is yet to be set up at a studio, Bryan wrote the story alongside Rick Sordelet and Dan Studney with Rick and Dan producing the screenplay. "It's my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film. A story I've wanted to retell since childhood," Bryan wrote alongside the picture.

"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" follows Captain Nemo and the crew of his submarine vessel, the Nautilus, as they embark on incredible adventures and encounter fantastic sea life beneath the surface. Richard Fleischer directed the 1954 version for Walt Disney Pictures starring Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Paul Lukas and Peter Lorre which won two Academy Awards for Best Art Direction-Color and Best Special Effects.

Bryan is currently in Hawaii to celebrate his birthday with friends. On Wednesday, the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" helmer shared a photo of a tsunami warning siren along with caption, "I'm in #Hawaii with my friends for my birthday and just got the #tsunami warning.
