'Star Wars' Anthology Film Reportedly Eyes Former 'Wonder Woman' Director
Movie

Michelle MacLaren is reportedly considered by Disney and LucasFilm as potential director for the second stand-alone 'Star Wars' film which will hit theaters in 2018.

AceShowbiz - After losing director Josh Trank, the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II has eyed several names as candidates to direct the movie including Jon Favreau and Matthew Vaughn. While the search is still ongoing, Michelle MacLaren has been the latest name thrown into the mix.

Jeff Sneider from TheWrap revealed on Meet The Movie Press that MacLaren met with Disney for potentially directing the second stand-alone "Star Wars" film. However, it was said to be an ordinary meeting and there was no further indication that she would exactly get the job.

Sources said that Warner Bros. had an issue of hiring MacLaren as director. The rumor said that her lack of experience on tentpole-sized film raised some concerns. Though so, MacLaren has directed some of the best episodes of "Breaking Bad", "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones". Those projects should have marked her directing credit both for intense drama and large-scale action.

Previously, MacLaren was signed on to be the director of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's adaptation of "Wonder Woman". Unfortunately, she left the project due to creative differences and was replaced by the former "Thor: The Dark World" director, Patty Jenkins.

There haven't been many details about the second stand-alone "Star Wars" movie, but it is said to center on conflict between Boba Fett and Han Solo. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2018.
