"Nashville" actress Connie Britton is announced by Ryan Murphy to join his upcoming true-crime anthology series "American Crime Story". The first season titled "The People v. O.J. Simpson" will focus on the 1995 sensational murder trial that involved the football star.

"Excited to announce my friend Connie Britton will play Faye Resnick in the upcoming FX miniseries The People v. O.J. Simpson," Murphy tweeted. Resnick was a friend of Simpson's murdered ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson's. The interior designer who befriends Kyle Richards has appeared on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills".

Britton is joined by John Travolta who is tapped to play Robert Shapiro, a pivotal member of Simpson's defense team, Cuba Gooding Jr. who is cast as Simpson, David Schwimmer who stars as his attorney Robert Kardashian, and Sarah Paulson who is set as prosecutor Marcia Clark.

Britton who previously starred on Murphy's "American Horror Story" recently hinted at reuniting with the producer for a future project. "We've been talking about trying to work together again," she said. "I'm really interested in American Crime. I think that's going to be a lot of fun." She initially wanted to play Nicole Brown Simpson but realized that she couldn't. "She's dead, right? I can't play her, right?" she said.
