Twelve female contestants in the top 24 of "American Idol" season 13 performed on the show's Thursday, February 26 episode. Just like the boys who took the stage the night before, some of the girls impressed the judges while some others didn't.
The Thursday episode was kicked off with Lovey James' energetic performance of OneRepublic's "Love Runs Out". The three judges gave her positive reviews. Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. both praised her song choice. Keith Urban added, "It got better and better."
Adanna Duru was up next, amazingly hitting the high notes as she played "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne. The judges all loved it. Afterwards, Alexis Gomez appeared on the stage singing Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder & Lead" while playing her guitar. Harry said she was good although she was imitating the original too closely. Keith also thought it was lovely, but told her it might've been better if she got rid of her guitar.
The next contestants Joey Cook who tackled Keith's "Somebody Like You" and Katherine Winston who sang Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars' "Safe and Sound" received mostly positive reviews from the judges.
For Shannon Berthiaume who performed Pink's "Who Knew", Harry said she needed to be "more energetic." Keith didn't like her song choice while J.Lo told her she needed to start believing she's a "phenomenal singer."
Loren Lott was the next girl to hit the stage. The three judges approved of her performance of Charice's "Note to God". Meanwhile, the judges admitted Shi Scott's decision to sing Rihanna's "Umbrella" wasn't good. "I don't know if you really got me," Keith said. "They didn't get the best of you," J-Lo added.
Maddie Walker later delivered a sweet rendition of Shania Twain's "Love Gets Me Everytime". "It was a good, solid performance," Harry said. The rest two judges agreed.
The last three contestants' performances were the highlights of the night. Sarina-Joi Crowe wowed everyone with her take on Jessie J's "Mamma Knows Best". "You rivaled [Jessie J] on that one," J-Lo said.
The judges also loved Jax's version of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang's (My Baby Shot Me Down)". I love what you do. I love your artistry, I love your originality," Keith said. J-Lo and Harry were sure Jax would make it to the next round.
The last girl to perform was Tyanna Jones. After she finished singing Meghan Trainor's "Lips Are Movin", Harry said she's one of the ridiculously talented performers. Keith told her she should've tried singing it in higher key.
