Two actors have joined CBS "Supergirl" pilot. On Thursday, February 27, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood were reported to play the foster sister of Kara Zor-El named Alex Danvers and the villain Hank Henshaw, respectively.

The project stars Melissa Benoist as Kara, Superman's cousin, who ran from Krypton and hid her powers. She later lives with the Danvers. At the age of 24, Kara embraces the fact that she has superpower and eventually channels her inner hero. Alex is inspired to become a doctor after learning of Kara's power.

Harewood's villainous character, meanwhile, is described as a former CIA agent who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operation, which tracks extraterrestrial threats on Earth. In the comics, the character is also known as Cyborg Superman.

In addition to the said stars, the project features "Ally McBeal" alum Calista Flockhart as Kara's boss Cat Grant, "True Blood" star Mehcad Brooks as Kara's love interest Jimmy Olsen and Laura Benanti as Kara's mother Alura Zor-El. Greg Berlanti ("The Flash", "Arrow") and Ali Adler ("Glee", "The New Normal") write the pilot and serve as executive producer alongside Sarah Schechter.

According to KSite TV, Glen Winter will direct the pilot. Additionally, "The Flash" and "Arrow" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg joins the project as writer and executive producer. Filming reportedly will start next month for fall debut.
