Single mom Erica Washington ends the auditions in Harry Connick Jr.'s hometown on a high note with her own take on Beyonce's 'Halo'.

AceShowbiz - Harry Connick Jr. returned to his hometown of New Orleans in the Thursday, January 22 episode of "American Idol". After a rather disappointing night on Wednesday, Harry promised that New Orleans had a lot of "potential superstars" though he admitted that he was nervous about that.

The show started with the bad ones, including Drew Plaisance who recreated Michael Jackson's iconic dance, prompting Harry to ask, "What the hell is going on in here?" Jelly Joseph gave the judges hope to score great talent when she entered the room. Singing Adele's "Rolling in the Deep", she was sent to Hollywood.

Cheerleader Tiffany Stringer was an average singer, but she's definitely got the spirit. Her rendition of Cher Lloyd's "Want You Back" didn't win the heart of Harry, but Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban wanted to see more of her.

Greyson Turner sang an original song, "Chasing Shadows", and immediately captured the heart of the judges despite his unpolished voice. He and another potential songwriter Mikey Duran got Golden Tickets.

Quentin Alexander sang Lorde's "Royals" and made some changes to the lyrics. He's a quirky dude, but the judges loved him and sent him through. Ricky Dale Hendricks has got the look and the talent, but he's unpolished. The judges gave him a chance anyway and gave him a Golden Ticket.

Dakota Suarez a.k.a. Bianca Jade is a drag queen. Though Harry wasn't into his performance, J.Lo and Keith gave yes. Carlos Santana's nephew, Adam Lasher, has an excellent musical pedigree and his soulful vocal earned him a spot in the next round.

Erica Washington rounded out the night with her performance of Beyonce Knowles' "Halo". The single mom made the song her own and got sent to Hollywood. "I didn't think about Beyonce once, and that's a tell tale sign," Harry commented.
