Adams takes home a trophy in Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category, while Arquette wins Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture.

AceShowbiz - The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards is currently taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. In movie category, it started with J.K. Simmons taking home Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in "Whiplash".

After Johan Johannsson was named a winner in Best Original Score for his work in "The Theory of Everything", and "Glory" by John Legend and Common from "Selma" original soundtrack was chosen as Best Original Song, Amy Adams was named a winner in Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category for her performance in "Big Eyes". Adams admitted to not being prepared to be called onstage, saying, "I didn't even reapply lipgloss."

Right after Adams' trophy was handed out, the winner in Best Animated Film category was announced. "How to Train Your Dragon 2" took home the trophy after defeating other contenders such as "Big Hero 6", "The Book of Life", "The Boxtrolls" and "The Lego Movie".

Next, Patricia Arquette was handed Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture award for her performance in "Boyhood". "Meryl [Streep], thank you for giving me a hug. I hope your DNA transferred to me," she said onstage.

Winners from other categories will be announced soon. The Sunday night, January 11 event is hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
