The Minnesota Vikings running back has been placed on probation, fined $4,000 and ordered to serve 80 hours of community service.

AceShowbiz - Adrian Peterson will avoid jail time after a Texas judge accepted his no contest plea for child abuse on Tuesday, November 4. Adrian was put on probation, fined $4,000 and ordered to serve 80 hours of community service.

He told reporters outside the court, "I want to say I truly regret this incident. I stand here and I take full responsibility for my actions. I love my son more than any one of you could even imagine. I'm looking forward to, and I'm anxious to continue my relationship with my child. I'm just glad this is over. I can put this behind me and me and my family can begin to move forward. Thanks."

It's still unknown if Adrian will be allowed to play in the NFL again. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an e-mail to New York Daily News, "As we have stated previously, we will make a determination on his status after we have the facts. He is on the commissioner-exempt list with pay until the criminal charges pending against him are adjudicated."

Brian added, "We will review the court documents. We cannot speculate on a timetable for a decision."

Adrian was charged with felony injury to a child after being accused of disciplining his four-year-old son with a switch back in May. He has missed eight games since turning himself into authorities.
