The 'Starships' raptress and the 'Stupid Boy' singer are said to be inches away from signing up to be judges on the FOX reality show.

AceShowbiz - "American Idol" may soon add Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban to its judge line-up. The Young Money femcee and the "Without You" crooner are reportedly nearing deals to join the veteran singing competition as judges for season 12.

A source close to the show tells The Hollywood Reporter that Minaj and Urban have been in talks with the show's producers for weeks. It is said that the raptress will receive about $8 million from the gig, with additional allowances for wardrobe, hair and makeup.

As for Urban, he apparently has undercut Brad Paisley, who was mentioned as a frontrunner to be a judge from country music department. Words are, Paisley dropped out of the talks because he wanted as much as Minaj gets. Urban, meanwhile, has reportedly agreed with a salary of around $3 to $4 million.

The site adds that the producers are still considering about having a fourth judge, with original judge Randy Jackson possibly securing his position on the show. However, if the producers find another person who fits the position, Jackson could be moved from the judges table.

"American Idol" season 12 will begin airing on FOX in early 2013 with Ryan Seacrest returning as the host. Alanis Morissette and Nick Jonas are some who have confirmed that they're in talks to take the judging duty.
