Missy Elliott

Be it in public or behind the scenes, Missy Elliott is shining in whatever she's doing. Her works as a solo artist have always been heavily praised by both music critics and people, so does her music that she produces for other artists. Many of them have helped her earn her numerous awards, such as her accolades at the Grammy Awards.

With such a long list of amazing achievement that she receives throughout her career, it's only natural that Missy gets special recognition at award shows. For instance, the female emcee's passion in making music has earned her a spot at the Songwriter Hall of Fame for all the works that she's done for herself and other singers such as Aaliyah, Beyonce Knowles and Monica. In doing so, she became the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted the hall of fame.

Most recently, Missy was honored with MTV Video Vanguard Award for her impact in the music industry that people dubbed "indelible." Bruce Gillmer, MTV International's VP of Talent and Music Programming/Events said of the "Get Ur Freak On" hitmaker, "Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched."

Missy surely did not make the company regret its decision of naming her the next honoree of the Video Vanguard Award because just before she took the stage to accept the trophy, she delivered a stunning medley performance with her hypnotic and funky-fresh eccentric visuals that blew expectations out of the water. Many were mesmerized by her set that night, prompting them to demand that the rapper should headline the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show.

It remains to be seen whether or not she will headline the upcoming event, but for those who are missing to hear new music from the star, Missy has treated them to a new EP "Iconology", a title that's fitting to her status. Launching at No. 24 on Billboard 200, the record received acclaim from music critics.
