Leslie is desperate for a new best friend now that Ann has moved away. Ben attempts to convince Leslie that he can fill the void in Leslie's friendship life, but Leslie needs a woman to have womanly conversations with. She makes it a goal to find her new best friend by hosting an out-of-season Galentine's Day brunch.

The next morning, the Unity Concert meeting is in full swing. The committee needs to survey a park for zoning purposes, and Ron volunteers to handle the task himself. He's secretly just excited for a few hours of peace and quiet, but when Leslie tells Andy to accompany Ron on the surveying mission, it becomes clear that Ron's wish for serenity will not be granted.

Meanwhile, Ben and Tom have been tasked with procuring a tent for the concert. They've already worked up a contract with Pawnee's biggest tent rental company, and now it's just a matter of paying the owner a visit to sign the contract. Ben invites Larry to join them, since he handled most of the paperwork for the deal.

At the park, Ron is surveying the area while Andy keeps himself busy playing on the monkey bars. When Andy knocks out a tooth in a clumsy fall, Ron rushes him to the dentist's office. Andy has a decidedly childlike fear of the dentist, so Ron decides to stay with Andy to keep him comfortable. Even at work, Ron can't escape his fatherly duties.

Meanwhile, Tom, Ben and Larry pay a visit to the tent man, Harvey, to seal the deal, only to discover that he has added a collection of bizarre fees to the previously agreed upon contract. When Harvey proves difficult to negotiate with, Ben and Tom decide to take their business elsewhere. Unfortunately, Harvey owns every tent rental company in the area.

Just when the situation seems hopeless, Larry comes through: he's analyzed the business workings of Harvey's companies and discovered a number of code violations that Tom and Ben can use as leverage to get a good deal on the tent. They meet with Harvey again and seal a deal, thanks to Larry's paperwork savvy.

Leslie has assembled a Pawnee dream team of potential new best friends for her Galentine's Day brunch. April, Donna, Ethel Beavers, Shauna Malwae-Tweep, and Ann's Eagleton doppelganger, Evelyn, join Leslie at a restaurant and answer a series of questions that Leslie has secretly prepared. The brunch backfires when the women discover Leslie's ulterior motives and all but one bail on the brunch. As the only one remaining, Shauna wins by default. The brunch is interrupted when Leslie receives a text from Ann. She had the baby! Leslie says a quick goodbye to Shauna and rushes to Ann's bedside.

At the hospital, Ann introduces Leslie to her newborn son, Oliver Perkins Traeger, then scolds her best friend for using Galentine's Day to manipulate potential new friends. As it turns out, Ann misses Leslie just as much. Back at the office, Donna and April promise Leslie that, while they won't be able to replace Ann, they'll always be there for her.

Later, Ben calls the office members together to announce, once and for all, that he likes Larry. Everyone is completely appalled, especially when Larry bumps into a trashcan and releases a huge fart. It doesn't help Ben's case at all.
