Mr. Robinson Episode 1.05 Can't Buy Me Love

In the teacher's lounge, Craig finds a very upset Victoria calling her boyfriend Robert - and getting voicemail again! Not only has he been distant lately, but in the three years of their relationship, he hasn't once mentioned commitment, let alone getting married. Craig couldn't be more thrilled, and decides this means Victoria and Robert are breaking up. When Samir finds Craig doing a happy dance, he solicits romantic advice. How's he going to get through to his crush Ashleigh? Craig suggests giving her flowers, but this seems much too simple for Samir.

Principal Taylor and Supervisor Dalton call a mandatory meeting to deliver bad news to the teachers. The school is in a serious budget crisis, so nonessential classes like P.E. and music will be terminated by the end of the week, rendering Craig and Jimmy jobless. When Craig's students hear the sad news, they decide they need to do something. That night, Deandre visits Ben to ask him to help save Craig's job. After all, if Craig doesn't have a paycheck, Ben's going to have to get a job... Ben agrees to help the kids create a viral fundraising video, but the rehearsals aren't going well. Nobody knows why, but it turns out that music video director Ben is an out-of-control prima donna. But Deandre's not bothered, claiming it was all part of his master plan from the beginning. "A-Hole Explodes on Kids" will raise a ton of dough!

Ashleigh comes up with the idea of staging a fundraising auction at FloJack's, selling the services of the teachers to raise the $30,000 needed to save Craig and Jimmy's jobs. A smitten Samir sells most of his belongings in hopes of having enough money to win Ashleigh. Victoria is just telling Craig that she thinks Robert might be breaking up with her when he shows up in the teacher's lounge with lunch from her favorite restaurant. Craig stands outside as Robert tells Victoria that he got an amazing new job in New York City... and he wants her to go with him. Hoping to confirm news of the breakup, Craig sends Ashleigh to talk to Victoria, who admits she has her doubts about following a man who won't commit across the country.

That night at the auction, Samir loses out to a stud who bids $5,000 for Ashleigh. After she thanks him for being "the perfect shill," Samir slinks off to spend all his money at the bar. When Victoria takes the stage to be auctioned off, Craig starts a bidding war with Robert - but he's no match for a ring and a proposal. The wind out of his sails, Craig joins Samir in drowning his sorrows in $4,000 worth of tequila. The next day, Taylor and Dalton enter the teacher's lounge with bad news. They only managed to raise $17,000, so Craig and Jimmy are still fired. Just then, Deandre calls all the teachers into Craig's classroom to show off the video the kids made with Ben, soliciting donations to a PayPal account and raising $15,000. Craig's job is saved! But his heart is still broken since Victoria's getting married and moving to New York. On her way out, she grabs Craig and lays a deep kiss on him. "Well, alright," Craig says as she walks out of his life forever.
