Hank embarks on a road trip to Phoenix with Bobby to deliver furniture to his mother and make it home in time for Christmas. Excited at the chance to teach Bobby how to adhere to a schedule and prove his mettle as a truck driver, Hank eagerly rents an 18-weeler for the journey.
Angry that Hank will not allow them to come along, Dale, Boomhauer and Bill stow away in the truck where they are eventually discovered by an annoyed Hank. The trip goes further south when Hank's desire to adhere to the schedule and prove that he is a true trucker causes him to fall asleep at the wheel, leaving an eager to please Bobby in charge and Boomhauer as their new driver.
Meanwhile, Peggy decides writing a Christmas carol would be a worthwhile money-making venture and enlists Luanne to help, leading to a clash of ideas.
