Two American hikers in Syria are accused of being CIA spies and taken hostage by Syrian rebels. Clockwork is sent in to extract the two hikers under the guise of a diplomatic mission headed by ex-President Finnegan and with Gabriel and Riley posing as Secret Service agents. Gabriel learns that Finnegan was the president who initially signed the order for Clockwork. Riley is reunited with some of her former Secret Service colleagues, including Special Agent in Charge Griffin, an agent she had a romantic relationship with that ended when she left the Secret Service.Gabriel maneuvers his way through the Syrian prison to find the two hikers but is surprised when one of them reveals that they are in fact CIA agents who were gathering intel on a Syrian scientist they believe to be a threat to US security. The CIA agent tells Gabriel he and the team must leave them there and find the scientist before its too late. Although furious at the CIA for not divulging this information, Lillian agrees and orders Gabriel and Riley to track down the scientist. However, when they find the scientist, they realize she is actually an American citizen who has been forced to work for the Syrians. Riley devises a plan to get the scientist and her daughter out of Syria, but Gabriel insists on going back to save our two CIA spies.
