Inside an ordinary family home, Carly, a 17-year-old high school student, is chatting with her dad, Jarold, about everything from school to laundry. As she heads upstairs for bed, a mysterious man named Todd pulls up outside the house and morphs into a Coyotl. What he's looking for at the home seems to be a mystery. As Carly walks into her bedroom to change into her pajamas, she comes face to face with Todd and another Coyotl named Kyle. Trapped with nowhere to go, Carly begins to panic once she realizes she is being kidnapped.

A new day for Nick brings another trip to the hospital to check in on his girlfriend, Juliette. After waking up from a coma, Juliette can't seem to remember Nick. In hopes of bringing back her memory, Nick brings his computer, which has dozens of photos showing off their relationship. Unfortunately, Juliette only knows Nick as the police officer who took her to the hospital, not the Nick who has been her boyfriend for several years. Frustrated and confused, Nick asks Dr. Saliman what he can do to help Juliette. The doctor simply advises Nick to be patient and wait for more test results to come in.

With her feet tied up and duct tape over her mouth, Carly arrives at an abandoned farm where many Coyotls live. Todd and Kyle carry her to an empty well and lower her down into the dark hole. Later on, Carly is pulled out of the well, where she is joined by three men including Hayden, the leader of the pact. He steps forward and warns Carly it's time for her to rejoin the pact after her family's betrayal.

Hank, Nick's coworker and loyal friend, meets with Dr. Vanessa for help on his increased anxiety and sleeping problems. He describes his feelings as flashbacks begin to play in the back of his mind, including hallucinations and gruesome murders. Before the session is scheduled to end, Hank demands to leave, claiming he has to get back to work. He heads to the police station where Nick has just finished talking with Captain Renard about Catherine Schade's death. Both men agree they need to investigate more closely Catherine's daughter, Adalind. There don't appear to be any suspicions on the real killer, Nick's mom. Hank opens up to Nick about his concerns over what he has witnessed the past several weeks. He wonders if it's time for a break. Nick completely disagrees and promises to talk in private later.

Persistent and curious, Nick brings Monroe to the hospital in hopes of sparking Juliette's memory. Sure enough, Juliette immediately recognizes Monroe as the man who saved her life. However, the connection between Monroe and Nick doesn't register for Juliette. Later on, back to the police station, Carly's dad interrupts Nick and Hank's deep conversation. Visibly upset and shaken, Jarold tells the officers his daughter is missing. During a basic interrogation, Nick spots Jarold morphing into a Coyotl. His suspicions begin to rise while Hank simply wants to help his longtime friend and goddaughter.

Monroe joins Nick in the trailer to discuss how the Coyotl pact operates. They find out the group participates in a fertility matrix, or a mating ritual, for new female members. In addition, Coyotl members have a strong connection to the number 17, the same age as Carly. As Nick begins to head out, realizing time is ticking to keep Carly safe, Monroe mentions his private time with Juliette. He believes Adalind's whole goal in poisoning Juliette was for her to remember everyone but Nick. In a mad rush, Nick says little and heads out.

Back inside the police station, Hank leaves the table to get some coffee. It's the perfect time for Nick to talk to Jarold alone. Nick admits he knows Jarold is a Coyotl but insists that won't stop him from finding out what happened to his daughter. Jarold confesses parts of his family didn't approve of his decision to raise Carly away from the pact. He realizes they could be out for revenge. Hank returns and begins to look up family members including Hayden, who is estranged from Jarold and Carly. After little hesitation, Nick, Hank and Jarold agree to drive together and look for Hayden.

The first stop is a car shop where Hayden is believed to be a car mechanic. Advising Jarold to stay in the car, Nick and Hank look around and spot an impressive Harley motorcycle, but no Hayden. The boss sends them to an apartment where he believes Hayden lives. Nick and Hank push down the apartment doors and enter the rooms that smell like dead bodies. What do they uncover? Several dead animals lying in the bathtub and bathroom sink. They find another address, which leads them to the abandoned farm.

Sharpening his knife, Todd is preparing for a special ceremony in honor of Carly's arrival to the barn. Holding the object, Todd walks up to Carly and tells her, "I want you nice and clean for the ceremony." Soon after, Carly changes into a white dress and is carried to a special alter with skulls and ropes nearby. The Coyotls tell Carly she should never have betrayed her family and the pact. All of a sudden, a man driving the Harley motorcycle seen at the car shop pulls up. He warns the Coyotls that the police could be on their way. The ceremony will have to be completed more quickly than expected.

Hank and Nick arrive at the farm and advise Jarold to stay calm and remain in the back seat. They are the professionals and can handle the situation. The officers begin talking to Hayden about the disappearance of Carly. Unable to control himself, Jarold steps out of the vehicle and demands answers from the Coyotls. There's no persuading Jarold to head back into the car. Instead, he runs into the barn to look for his daughter and Hank follows. As they begin to search, Hank and Jarold find the altar without Carly. As they run around even faster in fear something terrible has gone on, Hank spots the Harley motorcycle. It dawns on him the Coyotls were expecting the police.

Losing his temper, Jarold runs back to Hayden and the Coyotls. Hank grabs Nick's attention and tells him about the motorcycle sighting. Out of the corner of their eyes, they spot the rope, believed to be holding Carly, moving above a well. As soon as they rescue the missing teenager, the Coyotls fire shots. An all-out war has begun. In a state of fear, Carly morphs into a Coyotl, which completely freaks out Hank. He pulls out his gun for protection, fearing Carly will hurt him. Nick is forced to confess his identity as a Grimm in hopes of calming his friend down and not harming Carly.

A sneaky and manipulative Hayden offers to speak to Nick and Hank in hopes of resolving the fight calmly. Hayden quickly morphs into a Coyotl, but Hank is prepared and throws the first punch, dropping him to the ground. Hank handcuffs Hayden and tells Carly it's time to scream, for a good reason. She obeys and the noise grabs the attention of the Coyotl men holding Jarold hostage. All the men, except for Todd, morph and run towards the barn. They soon realize they are trapped as Hank and Nick point their guns.

With Todd left to his own devices, Jarold morphs into a Coyotl himself and begins tackling his daughter's kidnapper. Carly comes to her dad's defense with a massive fire pit poker found in the barn. With some tough punches and strong hits, the father-daughter duo beat Todd to the ground. They are finally safe from the Coyotls... for now. Back in the police station, Hank sits down with Carly and Jarold to file the report. All three can't believe what they have just experienced. Once they leave, Nick meets with Hank to try to explain his life as a Grimm. Before he begins, Hank says today was one of the best working days he has had in a long time. "I might be crazy but now I know I'm not alone," Hank tells Nick in regards to seeing people become mysterious creatures. Nothing else is said as Nick receives an important phone call.

It's the call Nick has been waiting for. He is now able to pick up Juliette from the hospital. Once the bags are packed and they travel back home, things get a little awkward between the two. Juliette still doesn't feel comfortable around Nick because she still can't remember all the time they have spent together. As Nick looks on, Juliette heads upstairs and wishes him a good night.
