The 'You Already Know' singer and her estranged husband initially kept their separation secret but finally decided to make it public because of 'all the romantic questions.'

AceShowbiz - Fergie and Josh Duhamel had apparently lived separate lives before they announced their split last week. She said, "Honestly, it was just getting a little weird for us with all the romantic questions" so they decided to come clean about their relationship.
"We're great friends, we love each other so much, and it just got to the point where it was getting a little weird," the female singer whose real name is Stacy Ferguson told PEOPLE. "There's no perfect time, so we just decided to do it."
The musician also talked about co-parenting their 4-year-old son Axl. "We just wanted to get adjusted in private. [And Axl's school has helped as] we have a co-op so Josh and I would walk there several times before the school season," she explained.
"I get to learn from the teachers and see how he reacts in a group of friends that he knows. And I get to help out and serve them snacks and clean the dishes. We have fun, we get down and dirty and read the stories with our costumes. You get down in the sand and get dirty - I love it. I love that part of it all."
Fergie, 42, and Josh Duhamel, 44, called it quits after 13 years together and 8 years of marriage. "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year," they announced in a joint statement. "To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family."
Fergie and Josh started dating in 2004 after she and Black Eyed Peas appeared on his show "Las Vegas". They were engaged in December 2007 and tied the knot in January 2009. It's unclear when exactly they split. The couple still celebrated their anniversary as a family in January, but they haven't made a public appearance together since June when they took their son to church.
