'Outlander' New Preview Shares Opening Scene From Midseason Premiere
TV

The opening scene is narrated by Jamie who ponders about making choices in life and becoming a man.

AceShowbiz - Starz has debuted another sneak peek from "Outlander" ahead of the show's midseason return. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore introduces the clip, explaining that the new episode for the first time is told from Jamie's perspective rather than Claire's.

In the opening scene, Jamie ponders about making choices in life and how realizing it made him "a man." "I've always known I've lived a life different from other men," he says while skipping stones across a stream. According to the network, the episode will allow viewers to "find out Jamie's side of the story when Claire disappeared in the final episode before the mid-season break."

Moore previously explained the shift of perspective at the TCA winter press tour, "We're restarting the audience, so we wanted to have a lead-in for the viewers that would shift the point of view." He added, "It was interesting to tell those events in that first hour from Jamie's point of view."

"And then, it also served a larger goal in the life of the series in that the show beyond Season 1 is really about Jamie and Claire together, and this was a moment to sort of pivot to now include him in the perspective for the audience," Moore continued, "and that gave us permission moving forward to then do scenes that Jamie was in, that Claire wasn't in, so now the show became about both of them as we move forward."

Meanwhile, Sam Heughan who plays Jamie said in the second part of the season, "You discover a lot more about Jamie; he's finding his place in the world, he's got new responsibilities, he's got relationships he'd rather not deal with... we start to see his stubborn side, his pride; we start to see his failings, the chinks in the armor."

"Outlander" will return with the remaining of its first season Saturday, April 4 at 9 P.M. on Starz.
