Beyonce and Sam Smith Among Nominees for Grammy's Album of the Year

The diva's self-titled effort and Smith's acclaimed debut set are nominated alongside Ed Sheeran's 'X', Pharrell's 'G I R L' and Beck's 'Morning Phase' in the coveted category.

AceShowbiz - The nominees for the Album of the Year award at the 57th annual Grammys are here. Beyonce Knowles and Sam Smith, who are both now the biggest nominees with six nods each, are among musicians whose albums are featured in the coveted category.

The 33-year-old diva's 2013 self-titled surprise release and the British sensation's acclaimed debut set "In the Lonely Hour" are pitted against Ed Sheeran's "X" (pronounced "Multiply"), Pharrell Williams' "G I R L" and Beck's "Morning Phase".

Nominees of other categories for the upcoming awards event were announced earlier on Friday, December 5. The Album of the Year nominees were only revealed during a CBS special called "A Very Grammy Christmas" on Friday night.

The special also featured performances of holiday tunes and recent hits by the likes of Ariana Grande, Pharrell and Maroon 5. Host LL Cool J sat down with the performers to talk about their holiday and Grammy memories.

The 2015 Grammy Awards is airing live on February 8, 2015 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The Album of the Year winner, along with winners of other categories, will be announced during the ceremony.
