The singer's first pop album immediately goes platinum and posts the best sales week since Eminem's 'The Eminem Show' sold 1.322 million in 2002.

AceShowbiz - As previously reported, Taylor Swift's latest album "1989" makes its debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the record becomes the first release in 2014 to have gone platinum after selling 1.287 million copies in its first week.

That's the largest sales week for an album since June 2002, when Eminem's "The Eminem Show" sold 1.322 million in its second week. "1989" actually sold more than that. The album was offered for 99 cents during its release week through the Microsoft's Music Deals app. However, the sales for an album priced below $3.49 weren't counted by SoundScan.

"1989" becomes Swift's fourth album to top Billboard 200. Her previous releases to do so are 2012's "Red", 2010's "Speak Now" and 2008's "Fearless" The former two also opened with more than 1 million copies sold.

Miles behind Swift on Billboard 200 is the "Now 52" album. The compilation set arrived with 103,000 and becomes the 52th "Now" album to reach the chart's top 10. At No. 3 is country singer Sam Hunt's debut LP "Montevallo". Supported by hit single "Leave the Night on", the record lands at No. 3 with 70,000.

Barry Manilow's "My Dream Duets" is another new entry in the top 10. The album, which features the singer's duets with deceased artists like Whitney Houston and Judy Garland, starts at No. 4 with 51,000.

Jason Aldean rounds out the top 5 as his "Old Boots, New Dirt" jumps from last week's No. 5 with 43,000. Meanwhile, Florida Georgia Line's "Anything Goes" slips from No. 5 to No. 6 with 38,000. The deluxe re-issue of Led Zeppelin's "Led Zeppelin IV" sits at No. 7 with 35,000. The original album was released in 1971. The last time it visited the chart's top 10 was in March 1972.
