Slipknot VS Burger King
August 19, 2005 11:08:16To Slipknot's personnel, Burger King may not be delicious anymore as they threatened to place a trademark-infringement lawsuit over a series of its advertisement if the fast-food company refused to pull all related ads from TV and the Internet. It was because of Burger King's feature of a band bearing a remarkable resemblance to Slipknot's outfit.
"It is obvious that the television advertising and Website are designed to conjure up the image and persona of a live performance of Slipknot," stated Howard Weitzman, Slipknot's attorney in his Aug. 4 letter. The lawyer also said that the resemblance "is no coincidence," making the fans already confused the fake band with the real Slipknot.
Slipknot's Problematical Show
May 31, 2005 09:05:36Don't judge book by its cover. That proverb maybe won't always work for church community, who sometimes have to be in certain situation that, indeed, demand them to do so. As an evidence, appearance is one of particular things that matter for Greece's Orthodox Church who on Monday urged concert organizers to cancel a planned show by extreme metal band Slipknot.
The reasons given for the objection including the band's members' shocking appearance, in which they usually wearing black uniforms and masks that look like skulls. Notwithstanding with their appearance, what really matter for the church is the group's violent lyrics and references to the devil. Thus, citing a local papers, the curch outs statement saying "Public institutions must do their duty and protect Greek citizens, especially people, from any public event that promotes Satanism."
