Ships with "Star Trek Into Darkness" cast on board have landed gracefully in London, England. J.J. Abrams and his stars hit the white carpet at the world premiere of their sci-fi film which took place at the Empire Leicester Square theater on Thursday, May 2. With hundreds of Trekkies lining up, they were warmly welcomed by "Downton Abbey" cast and several "The X Factor" finalists.
Male leads Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Benedict Cumberbatch suited up for the event. Meanwhile, Zoe Saldana and Alice Eve stole the show from the boys with their gorgeous looks. Saldana wore a Vionnet dress, which featured a long black bodice and an asymmetrical white skirt, and Eve looked lovely in an Ermanno Scervino suede strapless dress with a black belt.
Other British celebrities also supported the show, including Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and comedian John Bishop. Bo Bruce, who collaborated with Snow Patrol's singer Gary Lightbody on the film's soundtrack, was in attendance, wearing a floor-length red evening gown.
"Star Trek Into Darkness" centers on Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise, who are tasked with leading the deadly manhunt to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.
Before being released on May 9 in the U.K. and May 17 in the United States, the film builds the anticipation with the release of two videos, which feature Saldana as Nyota Uhura. In a clip titled "Ears Burning", Kirk and Uhura discuss Spock while in the turbolift together. The second video, meanwhile, sees Saldana talking about her character.
The film is penned by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Bruce Greenwood and Damon Lindelof.
