List of 36th People's Choice Awards Nominees in Movie
November 11, 2009 10:11:27The nominations for the 36th People's Choice Awards have been announced on Tuesday, November 10. Based on the announcement, it is revealed that vampire drama film "Twilight" and drama comedy "The Proposal" lead the pack of the nominees in movie categories with six nods each.
The two movies are among the contenders in Favorite Movie and Franchise categories. Moreover, "Twilight" and "The Proposal" lead actors, Robert Pattinson and Ryan Reynolds, share Favorite Actor nod. Kristen Stewart and Sandra Bullock, meanwhile, are up against for Favorite Actress gong. Both movie stars are also among the contenders in On-Screen Team category.
First Look at Zoe Saldana in 'The Losers'
October 07, 2009 02:10:40Zoe Saldana has been set to play Middle-Eastern hellion Aisha in "The Losers", and Entertainment Weekly has nailed the first look at the "Star Trek" actress in character. The first photo of the lone female member of the group was taken from the set, presenting the 31-year-old in costume which is completed with eyebrow piercing and tied-back hair.
Speaking about the casting of Saldana for the part, writer Andy Diggle who wrote the series opened up, "Aisha has to be deadly and desirable in equal measure, and Zoe embodies both qualities in spades." He furthermore added by promising, "Trust me, you've never seen her kick ass the way she does in The Losers!"
Closer Look at Na'vi in New 'Avatar' Photos
August 27, 2009 09:08:48A series of new Na'vi images from "Avatar" has been found. Scanned from the newest issue of Empire magazine by MarketSaw, some of the fresh photos capture a closer look at the avatar of Sam Worthington's Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana's Na'vi character Neytiri. One of the pictures gives out the first look at the avatar of Sigourney Weaver's Dr. Grace Augustine.
Beside those Na'vi photos, there are two other pictures. One displays Stephen Lang as Marine Corps Colonel Quaritch and shows his nasty scars, the other one sees director James Cameron giving instruction to some of the cast ensemble including Worthington. More of the look inside "Avatar" can be obtained from the October issue of Empire, which will be on sale in the U.S. August 27.
Black Carpet Marks Star-Studded L.A. Premiere of 'Star Trek'
May 01, 2009 03:05:28Proving that "Star Trek" is one of the highly anticipated summer movies this year, the Los Angeles premiere for the sci-fi film has been flooded with many Hollywood stars. Big screen actors, small screen stars and TV personalities were all spotted walking down the black carpet that was rolled down in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater on Thursday, April 30.
Unlike its world premiere in Sydney that was attended by several of its cast members, this Los Angeles screening saw many of the film's stars. Chris Pine, Eric Bana, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, John Cho, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg and Winona Ryder were only a handful of the cast ensemble seen attending the premiere.
Demonic Nero and Sultry Uhura in New 'Star Trek' Character Posters
November 22, 2008 08:11:29Continuing to promote "Star Trek" at warp speed, Paramount Pictures have released a pair of new character posters. In similar style of the earlier released posters of Kirk and Spock, the two fresh black and white images present U.S.S. Enterprise's communications officer Uhura and Romulan villain Nero.
While the poster of Uhura shows a sideway look into the human crew of the starship from the United States of Africa, the individual one-sheet for Nero displays a full frontal shot of the villain, exposing up-close his structural face and tattoos. Uhura is played by "Guess Who" star Zoe Saldana, whereas Nero is portrayed by "Hulk" actor Eric Bana.

It appears that the last month's scoop from TrekMovie.com indeed rings true. News by The Hollywood Reporter has just stated Zoe Saldana is now in final negotiations to board highly-anticipated flick "Star Trek" as Lt. Uhura, the chief communications officer on the USS Enterprise.
If deals are inked, the actress will officially join the likes of Anton Yelchin, Zachary Quinto, and Leonard Nimoy, who have all been confirmed for the project with Yelchin playing the young Pavel Chekov while Quinto and Nimoy becoming the young and older version of Spock, the Enterprise's Science and First Officer, respectively.

Casting has already begun on male actors for the highly-anticipated "Star Trek" with the inclusions of Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, and Anton Yelchin, but how about that on the female side?
According to TrekMovie.com, attempts appear to have been made on the matter as it has learned from sources close to the production that Zoe Saldana has been offered the role of Lt. Uhura, the USS Enterprise’s communications officer. However, the site does careful to state that "the deal is not yet final", which it points out to possibly be due to the actress' schedule in James Cameron's "Avatar."
Stars Coming to Light "Blackout"

Looks like the darkness in "Blackout" turns brighter now with the coming of some stars to illuminate the way. Jeffrey Wright and Zoe Saldana along with Melvin Van Peebles, Latanya Richardson, Anthony Chisholm, Saul Rubinek, Jamie Hector, plus Sean Blakemore have all given their nods to fill the roles in the project, so BlackFilm.com reports.
Aiming to begin filming production this month in Brooklyn, New York, the picture, which will be directed by Jerry LaMothe, takes its focus on tracking the chain of events that unfolds in a neglected Brooklyn neighborhood during the 2003 blackout. Also a screenwriter, LaMothe has been known for his directorial works in "Amour Infinity" (2003) and "Nora's Hair Salon" (2004).
