The 'Harry Potter' star takes the role of real-life journalist Jake Adelstein, who risks his life to investigate the Yakuza, in Anthony Mandler's film.

After signing up for "Kill Your Darlings" and "Horns", British actor Daniel Radcliffe adds another thriller film to his credits. The lead actor in 2012's "The Woman in Black" has agreed to star in Japan-set film "Tokyo Vice", which will be helmed by music-video director Anthony Mandler.

Radcliffe is cast as real-life American reporter Jake Adelstein, who covers the crime beat and locks horns with yakuza boss Tadamasa Goto a.k.a. John Gotti of Japan while working at the Yomiuri newspaper in Tokyo. The thriller is based on Adelstein's memoir.

"Tokyo Vice" is expected to start the production early in 2014. Still an investigative reporter for several publications, including The Daily Beast and The Japan Times, Adelstein will be teaming up with J.T. Rogers to pen the screenplay of the film, which is produced by Le Grisbi Productions' John Lesher and Adam Kassan.

After wrapping up Michael Dowse's romantic comedy "The F Word" and "Horns", Radcliffe has recently signed up for 20th Century Fox's "Frankenstein", an adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel with Max Landis to pen the script and John Davis to produce. Radcliffe will also head back to the stage in June to lead Martin McDonagh's "The Cripple of Inishmaan", which marks the 23-year-old actor's fourth play.
