'Captain America 2' Is a Political Thriller, Kevin Feige Confirms
Movie

Instead of just being a superhero flick, 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' will have 'their own textures and patinas, and that's what is exciting about it.'

AceShowbiz - Apparently "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will be more than just a superhero movie. Instead of just presenting a heroic story of Steve Rogers fighting his nemesis, the film will likely be a somewhat political thriller. This was confirmed by Marvel boss Kevin Feige himself.

Feige explained that Marvel Studios had planned to expand the genre of its films far from their passing trend. As quoted by Variety, he said, "If it is a fad, it's one that lasts 30 to 40 years, as the Western did, because each one is so different."

"There's an opportunity to graft almost sub-genres onto them," the President of Production of Marvel Studios added. "Our first Captain America film was a World War II picture, and the next is a political thriller. They all have their own textures and patinas, and that's what is exciting about it."

Plot details of the "Captain America: The First Avenger" sequel are still kept secret. So far, it is only known that the movie will pick up where "The Avengers" leaves off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.

In addition to revealing what fans could expect from the next Cap film, Feige opened up about Marvel's plan for the next three years which would be kicked off by the release of "Iron Man 3" this May 3. "We're entering that finishing crunch time where the days of the week have no meaning because you're working all seven of them," he said.

Finishing seven movies in three years was not the only challenge for the studio as Feige claimed that it was more difficult to make each film have a fresh take on the genre. He added that "being able to populate the films with rich, three-dimensional characters and employing a wealth of storylines that have been developed over the decades in print makes it much easier to pull off."

To be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, "Captain America 2" will be unleashed in the U.S. on April 4, 2014. It will be supported by Chris Evans, Emily VanCamp, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie.
