The Mixing of Thor and Iron Man in 'The Avengers' Discussed
October 23, 2009 11:10:19Director Jon Favreau has pointed out earlier that it would be hard to mix Thor and Iron Man for "The Avengers", but comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis recently expressed his belief that it could be done. To MTV, the man who launched "New Avengers" series shared the advice he's giving the Marvel movie team for the matter.
"My advice is, has been, and will be, that much like the comics, you look at movies like the 'Oceans' movies that have all these different flavors, you put the flavors together and you cook 'em," the 42-year-old artist responded when asked about the mixing of Thor's supernatural world and Iron Man's reality-based universe. "It absolutely can be done."

No Jon Favreau as 'The Avengers' Director
October 15, 2009 10:10:54Despite rumor to the contrary, Jon Favreau won't be serving as the director of Marvel's "The Avengers". Pouring cold water to the swirling speculation was the helmer of "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2" himself when speaking to MTV at the "Couples Retreat" junket in Bora Bora.
Presented with a question whether he will be bummed if another helmer is chosen for the project, he said that he won't, adding "They'll have to [find a different director], because I'm not going to be available." He then explained that he won't be completely out of the equation on the project though. "It's something I'm being the executive producer on, so I'll definitely have input and a say," he mentioned.

Matthew Vaughn Dreams of 'The Avengers'
August 29, 2009 11:08:14Director Matthew Vaughn already has one comic book adaptation in the works with "Kick-Ass", but that apparently doesn't stop him from hoping to lay his hand on one particular Marvel movie. When asked about his dream project, the producer of "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" reveals that he wants "The Avengers".
"[I'd] love to do 'The Avengers,'" Vaughn tells MTV News. The 38-year-old filmmaker, who was once attached to "Thor" before his contract expired and Kenneth Branagh stepped in, further fesses up that he is looking forward to be able to do a new "Superman" movie, saying "And Superman... I think it would be great to reinvent Superman."

Black Widow to Be a Big Part of 'The Avengers'
August 21, 2009 01:08:59Scarlett Johansson has kicked up a notch the possibility of Black Widow taking part in "The Avengers". After Marvel Studios' President of Production Kevin Feige made the suggestion during 2009 San Diego Comic Con, the actress who plays the femme fatale in "Iron Man 2" told Ireland Online that the Russian spy has a significant part to play in the movie.
"The character certainly comes back," the 24-year-old shared. She then went on to stress that though she has no clue which direction the filmmakers will take for the movie adaptation, her character does have a big part. "We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a big part of The Avengers," she said. "I don't know if that is where it's going to go but she is definitely a big part of The Avengers."

Idea of Four 'Avengers' Movies for One Summer Release
August 10, 2009 05:08:20Although Paramount Pictures has not decided on who will be the helmer of "The Avengers", director Louis Leterrier has shared what he has in mind for the Marvel project. During an interview with Los Angeles Times' Geoff Boucher on the set of "Clash of the Titans", the helmer stated that he has plans to make the comics adaptation into a series of four movies which will be released over the course of one summer.
"I'll tell you my real dream: To work with Joe Johnston ['The First Avenger: Captain America' director] and ['Thor' director] Kenneth Branagh and Jon Favreau ['Iron Man' director] and make like a triptych," he detailed on his dream project. "We do four movies. We release them one a month for the summer. Or even every two weeks or three weeks. And the whole summer would be Avengers summer."

Edward Norton on Possibility Joining 'The Avengers'
August 04, 2009 12:08:01Edward Norton remains coy when asked whether or not The Hulk will be involved in "The Avengers". When IGN caught up with him while he promoted "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama", the new HBO documentary he produced, at the Television Critics Association press event, the 39-year-old declined to comment.
"I probably won't comment on that, just because they [Marvel] keep a pretty tight reign on what they are letting out," the Academy Award nominee stated. "I'll let them say." Meanwhile, NukeTheFridge repoted that Marvel wants the actor who portrays Bruce Banner aka The Hulk in 2008's "The Incredible Hulk" for more than just "The Avengers." The site claimed, "[He] will have a possible cameo [in Iron Man 2] as both Bruce Banner and the Hulk".

Who's Going to Be in 'The Avengers'
July 27, 2009 10:07:57On day three of San Diego Comic Con 2009, July 25, Marvel didn't only present visitors with "Iron Man 2" panel, but also an update to "The Avengers" in term of which superhero characters will be making an appearance in the film. After the presentation of the "Iron Man" sequel, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios' President of Production revealed to Io9 the potential line-up of the super team.
"I think we know. I think it's going to be Iron Man and Thor, Captain America and Nick Fury," he gushed on the matter. Soon after Marvel Studios announced that they have pushed back some of their upcoming movies' release date, Ain't It Cool News has come up with a scoop that the delay was made so that it is possible for Favreau to helm the project.
"Everybody here loves the guy and he wants to do it, but it would have been impossible for him to do before the date change given his Iron Man 2 commitments," so read the report. "Also partly the reason why he agreed to do the Stark sequel on such an accelerated schedule was so he could get given first dibs on this. 'The Avengers' Baddie Should Be Hulk, 'Iron Man' Writers Hope

In support of Louis Leterrier's proposed idea back in June, "Iron Man" scribblers, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, also pointed out that everything has been built toward making the green raging beast one misunderstood baddie.
Explaining his reason on picking Hulk as the villain, Fergus said, "I hope 'The Avengers' embraces that. You don't want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Where's the fun in that?" He then suggested, "Let's break it off a little. Friends or colleagues who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know it's based on love and friendship and that's always the worst thing to have turn bad - is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in."

Eva Longoria Possibly Joining 'The Avengers'
September 15, 2008 10:09:27Rumor has it that "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria may be one of the superheroes in "The Avengers". The speculation has been brought up after a series of her photos clutching a copy of The Avenger comic book when leaving the L.A. offices of Marvel Comics was uncovered. The images posted by Flawed Hollywood was said to be taken on Friday, September 12.
Further on the story, L.A. Times inferred that Longoria may be eyeing the possibility to portray superheroine The Wasp. Wasp, who is initially a self-centered heiress and daughter of wealthy scientist Vernon Van Dyne named Janet, is one of the founding members of the Avengers. Upon her father's death, Janet requested Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym, a.k.a Ant-Man, to give her "Pym particles" which allows her to shrink, grow wings and fire blasts of energy.

Jackson's Nick Fury character in "Iron Man", will be having its share to work together with Iron Man and Hulk in Marvel's forthcoming feature film project "The Avengers". Still, it looks like that the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be seen in other upcoming Marvel's comic book adaptations.
Sharing his insight to MTV at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con on Thursday, July 24, Jackson hinted that his character may be making cameo appearances in almost every Marvel's superhero flicks for the next few years. Hinting the possibility, "Hulk" director Louis Leterrier expressed his hope of seeing Hulk as the bad guy saying, "I would love to see [the Hulk become the villain that fights the Avengers] because I think the best villains are always the ones whose agenda you understand. "Avengers" To Be Penned by Zak Penn

The Marvel Studios Overview Presentation has recently hired Zak Penn to pen the script for "The Avengers", a live-action feature of the superhero team originally created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Dick Ayers as an answer to DC Comics' Justice League of America.
While cast and plot line have not yet been confirmed, the project will surely exhibit the great power of the heroes as they battle against evil. Marvel itself has described The Avengers to be "Earth's mightiest heroes, formed to fight the foes no single hero could withstand" also "the most prestigious and powerful super-hero team in the world."
