Beloved American singer Andy Williams has passed away on Tuesday, September 25 night at his Branson, Mo. Home. The "Moon River" crooner was 84 when he lost the battle against bladder cancer.

Williams has been fighting the deadly disease since last year. A spokesperson for the singer said at that time that he was in "good spirits and getting stronger every day" following a treatment for the cancer. He was due to return to stage this month to celebrate his 75th year in the music industry.

Williams also personally announced his struggle on stage. "I do have cancer of the bladder," he said during a concert in November last year. "But that is no longer a death sentence. People with cancer are getting through this thing. They're kicking it, and they're winning more and more every year. And I'm going to be one of them."

Williams' rise to stardom began in the 1950s, around the same time Elvis Presley claimed his. He was famous for popularizing such songs as "Butterfly" and "Can't Get Used to Loving You". He had won five Grammy awards throughout his entire career.

Williams is survived by wife Debbie and three children, Robert, Noelle and Christian.
