Britney Spears started her judging stint for "The X Factor (US)" on Thursday, May 24 and she has been reported leaving the set earlier than the other judges. The 30-year-old mother of two was escorted backstage during the auditions in Texas, leaving four last hopefuls singing in front of the remaining three judges.
Rumors soon began to swirl that the "Womanizer" hitmaker walked off the set because she was upset after a contestant butchered her song "Hold It Against Me". However, the "Crossroads" star herself has denied the report by writing on her Twitter page, "#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!"
Donning a neon pink Brian Lichtenberg mini dress, Spears came to the set at the Erwin Center in Austin with fiance Jason Trawick. Demi Lovato followed next, wearing a yellow Topshop dress and cropped black jacket. L.A. Reid showed up before the two songstresses, while Simon Cowell arrived the last.
Expressing her excitement about the auditions, the "Me Against the Music" singer tweeted, "Texas has a lot of talent - seriously! Loving @TheXFactorUSA auditions so far..." Meanwhile, Lovato took to her Twitter to say, "OMG!!! This is so much fun!"
On her first day filming the reality show, the two female judges had different opinions about one young male contestant. The Sonny Munroe of "Sonny with a Chance" gave her review first, "I think that you have a great voice and your tone was great. But, I don't really know where you fit."
"I don't know what's going to set you apart from other musicians who are boys," the 19-year-old singer/actress continued telling the boy as heard in leaked audio. "So, I think you just have to find out what makes you special and what separates you from all the other teenage boys in this industry."
However, Spears disagreed. "I think you can be bigger than the next Justin Bieber," she gushed which was responded by a loud cheer from the crowd. "I feel like your runs are amazing. And I do feel like with a little more training, you could actually [inaudible] better presentation, but I see what's there. And you're very gifted."
