The host of this year's MTV Europe Music Awards introduces her feisty rapper alter ego when congratulating herself for scoring the hosting gig.
Selena Gomez channels her inner rapper in a promotional video for upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards. The pop singer wears baggy jeans, oversized flannel shirt and sneakers, and completes her feisty look with big gold hoop earrings and head bandanna.
The "Who Says" singer opens the clip as her sweet self. Wearing a pink strapless mini dress, she gushes in front of her bedroom mirror, "Finally I get to host the EMAs." Her self-congratulation is cut short when her reflection scolds her, "Seriously? Shut your face! Who else could it be?"
Her alter ego continues by rapping, "Who else better than me to be hostin' the show/ People know who the eff I is. I'm a pro/ The right time and place for me to be yeah I'll say it/ Congratulations to me, So here we go another page in my legacy/ Belfast waiting until they get a load of me/ EMAs that's where all the stars are gonna be."
The upcoming EMAs will be held on November 6 at Belfast's Odyssey Arena. "It's a dream come true!" Gomez said in a statement about her hosting gig. "This is such a huge event that always recognizes the biggest stars in music from across the globe, so it's a real honor to be MC at this year's show."
The girlfriend of Justin Bieber is no stranger to hosting music events. Two years ago, the "Love You Like a Love Song" singer co-hosted Pop-Con in New York City with Bieber, and repeated the same duty at 2011 MuchMusic Awards last June. Most recently, she served as a host at 2011 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show.
This year, Lady GaGa leads EMAs nomination list by grabbing six nods. Katy Perry and Bruno Mars trail behind her by pocketing four each. Adele, 30 Seconds to Mars and Bieber follow closely with three nominations. Gomez herself has a chance to win one coveted award. The "Wizards of Waverly Place" star is nominated in new category, Biggest Fans, along with the likes of 30 Seconds to Mars, Bieber, GaGa and Paramore.
Coldplay, Jessie J, LMFAO and Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to perform at the forthcoming event.
