"The Great Gatsby" has added another star to its casting line-up. Variety reported that the "I Am Number Four" actor Callan McAuliffe has been cast to play young Jay Gatsby, whose adult version is portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Beside McAuliffe, Gemma Ward has also recently been cast in the movie which is going to be directed by Baz Luhrmann. However, the Australian model/actress' role is yet to be disclosed.
Ward will join several other Australian actors who have already been tapped in the project, including Joel Edgerton who will play Tom Buchanan a.k.a. the Great American Douchebag, and Isla Fisher who will star as Tom's mistress Myrtle.
Currently shooting in Sydney, "The Great Gatsby" follows Nick Carraway, played by Tobey Maguire, a young man from Minnesota who moves to New York in the summer of 1922 to learn about the bond business. His neighbor in West Egg, N.Y. is a mysterious man named Jay Gatsby, who lives in a gigantic Gothic mansion and throws extravagant parties every Saturday night.
The film is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's highly praised 1925 novel of the same title. Luhrmann also serves as the producer and screenwriter in addition to taking on the directorial duty.
