'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' to Start Filming in 2010

'We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year,' Disney's topper Oren Aviv provides updates on the latest installment for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced series at Comic Con 2009.

AceShowbiz - Spring 2010 is likely to be the date Disney going full gear into the filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean 4". In a chat with Coming Soon when attending San Diego Comic Con 2009, the mouse house's Head of Production Oren Aviv spilled the bean on the shooting schedule. "We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year," he said.

As for when the fourth film of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series will be dropped in theaters, Aviv revealed that Disney still plans to release it in 2011. He also stated his hope that this movie can become "the first of another trilogy", but still stressed the importance to scale back. "It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger," he noted.

Mentioning that there is a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow's back story that hasn't been told, he added, "The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." Nonetheless, Aviv didn't confirm on whether or not the back story will be included.

Many details on "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" have been kept well under wraps. Words are, this fourth film would focus solely on Captain Jack Sparrow as he embarks on a journey to find the Fountain of Youth with Captain Barbossa, leaving Elizabeth and Will out of the adventure. It is also said that the unlikely duo will be forced to team up in order to "defeat some supernatural terror". Johnny Depp is to reprise his eccentric pirate character, Sparrow, in the film.
