A third "Mortal Kombat" movie reportedly is on the work. In an article by the SGV Tribune, former "Mortal Kombat" actor Chris Casamassa spilled the bean that the latest movie of the series that were adapted from the popular '90s fighting games will start its principal photography in September.
According to the actor who portrays human ninja named Scorpion in the original "Mortal Kombat" movie, he is also tapped to take a part in the third film. Though so, it is still unclear whether he will return to reprise his dead warrior role since he was replaced in its sequel "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" due to scheduling conflicts with "Batman & Robin".
Back in 2007, there were words that "Mortal Kombat" will be getting a reboot treatment with "Mortal Kombat: Devastation". At the time, it was stressed that the new movie won't be "a prequel, sequel, or in any form be related to the previous 2 movie", but will be made in the vein of "Batman Begins". Mid 2008, director Christopher Morrison revealed that they were still working on the financial issues.
Then, producer Larry Kasanoff and his production company Threshold Entertainment, who holds the rights to the franchise, filed a lawsuit against Midway Games alleging intellectual property claims to the franchise. But, Warner Bros. recently announced that it has picked up most of Midway Games' assets in bankruptcy court, basically giving the studio rights to the "Mortal Combat" franchise.

The 1st 2 movies sucked soooooooo bad, I want the movie to follow the game story EXACTLY! not mess it up like the others. No little funny bits with catch phrases and shit
They should make it rated R. With more blood, gore and violence.
its great!!! cant wait!!!
well lets think if thay redo the first one and make it rated R like it should have been then yes i would 8 dollers to see it.....oh and hollywood has new ideas....nobody likes them why not redo a classic and make it alil better?
Is there anyone actually clamoring to see this? The first Mortal Combat was good, the second truly sucked. Why do we need a third? Well, because Hollywood has no original ideas.
I just imagen it, and I think it woulb be a combination of The Matrix wich has the wall walking, and the latest Dragonball Evolution the slow motion fight scenes which I thought it was pretty cool. Which also equals the air combat in the video game.
EXCITED ABOUT IT JUST CANNOT WAIT!!!
If there would be a reboot well lets hope its a good one. If it continues to be a sequel make it better than the first 2 so there won't be any doubt that will be poor received like that second film. Anyway I still like what they have done to the first to films.
