Reports that Vanessa Hudgens has auditioned for the role of Leah Clearwater in "New Moon" seems to be a false one as the representative of the 20-year-old actress has thrown cold water to the rumor. To Just Jared Jr., the rep stated, "I don't know anything about the audition. As far as I know, it's just a rumor."
The audition rumor has been sparked earlier by MTV. In its recent news, the entertainment site claimed that in an interview at an afterparty for the 66th Golden Globe Awards, Sunday, January 11, "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene suggested that the "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" star has taken the next step to join the cast by auditioning for the only female werewolf role.
A sequel to the hit vampire drama "Twilight", "New Moon" is an adaptation to Stephenie Meyer's second novel of her "Twilight" series. Penned by "Twilight" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, it will have "The Golden Compass" director Chris Weitz serving behind the lens. With Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner among several other original cast members set to reprise their roles, the Summit Entertainment movie is reported to start production in Vancouver in mid-March for November 20, 2009 release.

I don't know why it's such a bad thing to let Vanessa play Leah. I think she would do a very good job. I don't know why you are all complaining about Disney characters because you know what? Taylor Lautner is one. He did a great job as Jacob, and I have to say that's one of my favorite characters in Twilight. Well, with the exception of Alice, Emmett, and Seth. Anyways, it would not hurt anyone to let Vanessa play the role as Leah.
