Major cast members of the flick like Richard Gere, Terrence Howard, James Brolin, and Jesse Eisenberg were spotted to walk down the red carpet with director Richard Shepard also present, smiles never leaving their faces. Other celebrities joining the party included actress Vera Farmiga, TV host Montel Williams, Golden Globes-nominated actor Matthew Modine, "The Covenant" star Chase Crawford, and Dylan Baker, who recently played Dr. Curt Connors in "Spider-Man 3."
Originally titled "Spring Break in Bosnia", "The Hunting Party" is a production of The Weinstein Company which is very loosely based on a 2001 Esquire magazine article by American journalist Scott Anderson about a group of five Western war-reporters. Pic revolves around a young journalist, a seasoned cameraman, and a discredited journalist, played respectively by Eisenberg, Howard, and Gere, who embark on an unauthorized mission to find the No. 1 war criminal from the Bosnian conflict.
