Celebrities Gather in L.A. for 'Up in the Air' Premiere
December 01, 2009 04:12:01"Up in the Air" celebrated the imminent premiere date with an event held at Los Angeles' Mann's Village Theater on Monday, November 30. From the cast to crew to celebrity guests, the event welcomed them all on the red carpet to pose for the photographers as well as sign autographs for fans waiting on the sideline.
Stars coming to the premiere wore dark suits in majority, including the lead actor George Clooney who was accompanied by model girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis and mother Nina Warren. Clooney greeted the crowd, shook hands with Cheech Marin and posed with CEO of Viacom Sumner Redstone, CEO of Paramount Brad Grey and director Jason Reitman.

Debuted via Apple, the sneak peek exposes the scene wherein George Clooney's Ryan Bingham meets for the very first time his love interest Vera Farmiga's Alex Goran.
Bingham is a corporate downsizing expert whose job is to travel around to different companies and determine who needs to be terminated. His only joy in life comes from the prospect of scoring his 10 million frequent flier miles. But, as he closes in on his goal and just after he's met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams, his cherished life on the road becomes threatened.
'Orphan' Goes Black for Los Angeles Premiere
July 22, 2009 03:07:52A week shy of the U.S. theatrical release of "Orphan", a Los Angeles premiere for the horror thriller has been held by Warner Bros. Pictures and Dark Castle Entertainment on Tuesday, July 21. Using Mann's Village Theater as the place to present the film's special screening, the event was kicked off with arrival of the celebrities on the black carpet.
The actors who portray the Coleman family, Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard, Jimmy Bennett and Aryana Engineer, were all present at the premiere, and so did Isabelle Fuhrman, the young actress who plays the seemingly angelic but wicked Esther. Another cast member joining them was Sister Abigail's depicter CCH Pounder.

December 01, 2008 11:12:01The winners of the 11th British Independent Film Awards have been announced on Sunday, November 30, and one that is shinning brighter than the others is "Slumdog Millionaire". In the announcement made at Old Billingsgate Market in London, the Danny Boyle-directed movie about a poor Indian boy who gets a shot at winning millions in a television game show brought home three kudos.
Nominated for six categories, "Slumdog" has nailed three of the coveted awards given away, including the Best British Independent Film title. The romantic comedy drama has also brought recognition to its director Danny Boyle, who received the Best Director prize, and its star Dev Patel, who is hailed to be the Most Promising Newcomer.

On Tuesday, October 28, at Soho House in London, it is unveiled that IRA prison drama "Hunger" and crime comedy "In Bruges" have dominated the list by collecting seven nominations each.
Both of them will battle it out for the title of Best British Independent Film, contending also with "Slumdog Millionaire", "Man on Wire" and "Somers Town". They will also go head-to-head for Best Screenplay and Best Debut Director. The latter is also known as The Douglas Hickox Award.

Seems to have no shortage of offers for this year, Vera Farmiga has given her agreement to take starring part in Holocaust-prestige feature "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" for Miramax Films.
An adaptation of the best-selling novel by Irish writer John Boyne, the dramatic flick focuses on a boy from a German family moving into Auschwitz who befriends a kid from the town's concentration camp. It is said that Farmiga will be billed as the German boy's mother, who grows horrified as she begins to know the truth about the camp.
